Having low porosity hair should not ben condemned as hard work, or be looked upon as difficult hair. It just needs gentle handling and your uttermost care and attention in learning how to keep low porosity hydrated and healthy looking in order to obtain some good healthy lengths.
Using a really good leave-in conditioner for low porosity hair is great in providing your hair with lubrication, flexibility and of course softness, which is what a good leave-in conditioner provides for our strands but it is not necessary for all to use a leave-in conditioner. However, if your hair is course you may find that you need to use a leave-in conditioner.

Additional Hydration
Banana Deep Conditioner - Banana is known to have great hydration and shine enhancing benefits, especially when mixed with honey which helps to soften your hair. In order to get great effects from banana, you want ones that are very ripe, blend 1/4, place blended mix in a bowl, then you want to heat up some honey 1 tablespoon will do and mix this in with the banana mixture, apply to hair and allow the ingredients to work with heat for around 5 minutes then rinse your hair.
Honey Conditioner Rinse - I love to conduct this one, all I do is warm up a tablespoon of honey with a conditioner, apply this mixture into my hair and allow it to sit for a few minutes, most times I may use this as a deep conditioner with my hair steamer, but my hair is left super hydrated and soft.
Pumpkin & Honey- Pumpkin seeds offer great vitamins and minerals, pumpkin seeds contain fatty oils with linoleic acid and oleic acid which are great in preventing cancer cell production. Pumpkin seeds have great sources of vitamins and minerals and iron which helps improve overall heath. The seeds contain cucurbitin which is an amino which may help with hair growth. Try this mixture it is great for moisture, 1 cup of cooked or canned pumpkin puree, with 1 tbsp of honey, apply this to hair and allow to marinade for 15 minutes before rinsing.
Yogurt- Yogurt has lactic acid that hydrates the hair, this is a protein-packed ingredient that acts as a great moisturiser and works best when applied to hair before shampooing your hair, just apply a scoop of non-fat plain natural yogurt to your hair for 5-10 minutes, then rinse out and shampoo your hair as normal.
Dehydration Avoidance
In order to prevent dry brittle hair in warm and cold climates, you need to keep your hair covered by wearing a hat or a scarf, exposure to the sun will make your hair more porous.
What does porous mean?
Having porous hair means hairs ability to absorb moisture, porous hair will absorb too much moisture and in return can provide you with frizzy hair. Very porous hair is typically damaged with the cuticle not completely intact, usually from too much bleaching or over processing from perms or relaxers. Porous hair absorbs hair chemicals very quickly and can become over processed and damaged quickly. On the contrary, hair that is not very porous does not absorb chemicals very quickly and can be difficult to perm or colour.
Avoid using heat styling tools, if you are a swimmer you do need to protect your hair before swimming by applying a conditioner and wear a swimming cap, and after, clarifying your hair and deep condition your hair to help keep it hydrated and strong.
