Henna Hair Dye |
I have read and heard that Henna hair dye has really great properties in helping with hair growth, shine and to hlep with split ends. I have used many natural hair dyes and have found them very drying to my hair, however, I am longing to use Henna hair dye to see if it does live up to its standards.
What is Henna?
Henna is a plant that is a large bush or a small tree that grows in hot and dry climates. In Acient Eqypt Cleopatra and Nefetiti have been know to use Henna. This has been used 6,000 years to dye hair, nails and skin and is commonly used in areas of India, the Middle East and Africa. Henna was used to cover gray hairs and to keep hair healthy.
The henna dye is found in the leaf of the plant, which is dried, milled and sifted, you can add acidic liquid like lemon juice or strong tea to activate the Lawsonia. The colour that you may get from using henna can vary from auburn, to orange, deep burgundy, chestnut brown of deep blue-black
Here are the listed benefits
So this is the reason why you may consider using henna in your hair. Henna coats the strands of your hair and helps to lay down your curticles, which means that you will get a much smoother, shinier detangle free hair. The properties in henna bonds to protein, your hair is made up for this and so henna bonds to the keratin and coats the cuticle, it does not penetrate hair.
People that has used this said that it made their hair much stronger, resilient to damage and saw less breakage in their hair, many say that it help with the fine hair and made their hair big and curls hanged longer, they saw less srinkage and their colour poped, giving less colour fade when using this dye monthly. Please be aware that you may find this dye drying to your hair, if this is the case, you will need to conduct a moisturings deep conditioning weekly and commit to this to help maintain the moisture in your hair.
If your hair is dry I would not recommend that you use this dye as it can cause breakage to your hair due to the drying affect that you may experience if using this dye.

Henna has antifungal and antibacterial properties that helps to drive away dandruff and itchy scalp, henna helps to loosen and soften your curls, making you hair hang better then seeing that srinkage when your hair dries like mine does.
The added benefits of using henna especially for those that has thin, limp hair, had noticed that it gave them more body, their hair was more dense and hair shined more, this is due to the fact that henna builds up the hairs structure and hair will be stronger due to the regular coats of henna.
It is recommened that you apply henna twice a month, this will make your hair glossy, healthy and voluminous, henna repais damaged hair strands and helps to restore the acid alkaline balance of the scalp. It is known to be one of the best hair conditioners for the hair, as it protects the hair strands, it builds a protective layer that helps to lock in the moisture. Henna is known to be the best way to add colour to your hair as it hs no ammonia, chemicals or any toxins in the product.

Things to consider before using henna
> Many that has used henna says that the build up has caused the curls to loosen which may not be a problem for some that has severe srinkage, but those that has lose curls, this may cause loss of the curls.
> Many have experienced dryness when using henna, but it is recommend that if this is the case to use conditioner afterwards.
> You may find it difficult to use a permanent hair colour on hair that has been previously treated with henna.
> The dye in henna called lawsone know as mutagen, can cause changes to your DNA in cells and can be responsible for cancer. I recommend that if you use henna to look at the levels of lawsona on the product I have found one that only has 1.7% of Lawsone which means that it is absolutely free of pesticides and lead, the brand is called Rajasthani Monsoon and it is easy to get into your hair and easy to be washed out of your hair.
I hope this has enlightened you, if you have used henna before, share your experience so others can see the added benefits.
Take care and have a lovely week!!
