4c Hair Type

  • Very Tight Curls
  • Very Zig-Zaggy Hair
  • Kinky tips
  • Close to 4b hair just tighter curls
  • Usually needs a lot of conditioner to hydrate hair
  • Great with finishing gels to help define the natural curls
  • NOT best with the wash & go method

What do you know about 4C hair? What are your views and opinions on this hair texture? You see for many they recon that this hair type is dry, hard to comb, lacks shine and hard to grow. Despite what you may think, our natural hair is naturally dry, it does take time and patience for our hair to grow, but as long as we are still living, our hair will always grow.  Many of us have different textures around the perimeter of our head, so you may find that some parts of your hair is much coarser and tends to be more drier, than the other parts of your hair, but that is all part of the parcel.

What should matter to us, is how well we can cope with the textures of our hair, curly kinky and coily hair is designed in a way that makes detangling hard work, but in order for the detangling process to become much easier for us, is to apply water to our hair.  This is what moisturizes our hair, and allows our hair to become much easier to detangle or to comb through.

Having natural hair is not a choir, it is not hard and yes you do need to spend time to care and provide that tender loving care for our hair, as much as we do when we are conducting our facial routines in the morning and at night time. Yes, perfect skin takes a dedicated routine and a lot of time to develop that healthy glowing skin that we all dream to have. What you put in now, you will benefit from what your reap! My mother always says, "If things was easy, it wouldn't be worth working for".

It is important to take time to learn about your hair type, know what your hair needs? What your hair is lacking? What products works well in your hair? What is your hair goals? Do you aim for length or for healthy hair? Do you have a clear and easy to follow, routine that you can stick to, in order to help you achieve your hair goals.

In order to obtain success, you need to have a clear understanding of what your goals are, and how to achieve them, and a clear date of when you aim to achieve them. Consistency is key here, and this applies to the care and maintenance of your natural hair.

The way I see things is you need to first learn to love yourself, this will allow you to embrace what you have, and to learn how to work with what you have, do not mind other people's hair texture, as they maybe experiencing problems themselves too.

Reasons why 4C should be hyped in my opinion

Versatility

4c hair is unique and very versatile in creating shapes and unique hair styles that many hair textures may struggle with.  I have 3c 4a hair and I cannot pull of braid outs and twist outs due to the nature of my hair, it does not last or my hair becomes knotted.

Deadlocks

4C hair is known to be the best hair type for dreadlocks, it takes less time

Long Lasting Protective  Styles

4c hair is great for those that wants to create protective styling for a long period of time, in order to allow your hair to grow.  Well this hair texture is great for creating and holding up twists and braids for a long while.

Don't Mind The Shrinkage

Shrinkage is not a bad thing, yes it hides your true length but shrinkage is an indicator that your hair is being properly hydrated and moisturized, that is what will cause shrinkage.  It is also signs of your hair's elasticity and its resistance to breakage.

So let it fro out and embrace what others try to create with their hair texture, but cannot create that original afro like those with  4C hair.

Summary

4C hair should not be overlooked, but we should learn to love the beauty of this texture, no hair type is a perfect hair type, and for many of us we encounter our problems just the same, but what you should have learnt is how to overcome these problems. What have you put in place, to help you conquer these hurdles.  We need to learn to love what we have, and forgot what others may think about your hair.
