Image result for newly natural hair

Reaching out to those of you that are newly natural, all those that has taken that big step into embracing your natural curls,  it must be a worry or panic not knowing what and where to go, it can be overwelming especially when there is so many natural hair products out there and not knowing what one to use,  we have all been there, and of course, it takes time and research to learn what products to use in your hair.

I have gathered a few essential items that you will need, and products that I have tried and tested, of course this is just a guide, I do not expect you to use the same products. What works in my hair may not work in your hair, this is just a guide for you.  Just a word of warning.. you are not alone! You may have purchased a product and found that it did nothing for your hair, we have been there and more than likely, still going through this stage called "Trial & Error".  It will take you a long while to find a product that you really like, I always complie a list of the ingredients on that particular product, so I can refer to it when looking for a new products.  This will make me aware of what ingredients perhaps did not agree in my hair or what one's worked well.

So let's get into it.....

Tools

> Sulphate Free Shampoo

Most naturals prefer to shampoo their hair once a month due to the fact that shampoo does strip the hair from its natural oils.  So shampooing or clarifing your hair monthly would help.  Most naturals Co-Wash their hair instead to help clean the hair but to keep the hair of its natural oils, keeping it moisturised leading up to shampooing day.  It is really up to you what way you want to conduct your hair regime and of course your hair, knowing when it needs to be washed!

Co- Washing is condition wash, so instead of shampooing your hair you can use conditioner to wash your hair!

> Natural Hair Conditioners

Many naturals us the conditioner as mentioned before, to Co-Wash their hair, many use conditioners to deep conditioner their hair.  Here are the ones that I used below:

> A deep conditioner

Every natural needs a really good deep conditioner, this can be done weekly or every two weeks it is up to you how you deep condition your hair but it is a must to incoporate in your hair regime.  You can use the conditoners that you purchasde to leave in your hair, steam your hair for 15-20 minutes or your can purchase a ready made deep conditioner. Deep conditioning helps to strenthen your hair, help with detangling, repair split ends, replenish moisture back into your hair.

> A leave in conditioner

Leave in conditioners are great to use in your hair after you have washed your hair, or to use before styling your hair.  It helps to hydrate your hair, keep hair moist, seals and softens your hair and helps to reduce frizz.

> Natural Oils

Oils are a great thing to have, there are different oils with different properties but are great for sealing in the moitsure in your hair after you have applied your leave-in, you need to use your oil of chose at this point then your cream, this method is called the LOC Method.  Oils are great if you wish to do hot oil treatments or pre shampoo treatments.

> Wide Tooth Comb or Detangling Brush

Hercules Seamless Comb:

Sealess combs helps prevent breakage and spilt ends, after all detangling your hair should be a painless experience, and with this comb it will be a pain free experience.

Finger Dantangle

This method I do prefer as it doesn't pull out your hair, it allows you to feel for knots and enables you to un reveal them better than a comb would do.

Denman Brush / Detangling Brush

> Hair Grips

These are great for those that has thick hair or to help section your hair for styling, moisturing your hair or even to help section your hair for washing.

> Satan Bonnet, Satin Scarf or Satin Pillow Case

You will need one of these items, they help protect your hair at night time, it helps to keep the moisture in your hair over night and prevents your hair from rubbing against your pillow causing breakage.

>  Hair Steamer ( Optional)

Great for oil treatments or deep conditioning this will be a great investment, but if you do not have one, you can place a damp towel in a microwave for a couple of minutes, and place over your plastic cap, this will work to steam your hair.

> Micro Fibre Towel or T-Shirt

This is a must have item, this helps to reduce frizz take out excess water and helps to define your curls, it causes less friction with rubbing your hair against the micro fibre which is great for less breakage.

You can use a old t-shirt to dry your hair if you prefer!
