What causes dry ends?

Natural curly, kinky, coily hair makes it very hard for our sebum, to travel down to the ends for our hair, you see, those that has straight hair, you will find it so much easier, for the sebum to travel from the shaft to the ends with no problem or hassle.  The coilier your hair is, the harder it will be for the sebum to travel to the ends of your hair, and for most of us, the sebum doesn't even get the opportunity to even reach, the ends of our hair!  It is nothing to worry about, or to panic about, that is just the make up of our natural hair strands, nothing that cannot be resolved.

So, this is where our hard work comes into play, in ensuring our ends are well watered and feed, and kept well hydrated, at all times.  This is where patience, love, and care comes into play, it will take time, but consistency will pay off in the end!

Here we go guys...

Pre-Poo

This method will help you to prep and prepare your ends, in becoming very soft and well hydrated. You can use whatever oil you like, but do make sure that you moisten your hair first with water, then you apply your oil of chose, and then apply your favorite conditioner to your ends.  Now cover your hair with a plastic cap for 1 hour, to allow the products to marinade into your strands.

Wash time...

I like to co wash my hair every three weeks, then shampoo my hair on the fourth week, this will allow my hair to keep in as much oil as possible, helping hair to remain moist.

Hot Oil Treatment

Now how many of us actually conduct this method? Or has incorporated this into our hair regimen? It will drive your ends to sing and dance, we want to make them happy right! I would suggest doing this on a weekly basis if your ends are dry, brittle and crying out for desperate help, if your ends are dry but not dying, then I would suggest doing this every other week.

Hot Oil Treatment is beneficial to you, because it is a great way to infuse shine and softness to your hair, this method will provide that, just make sure you do this before you shampoo or co wash your hair, to allow your ends to be moisten and soften, it works guys!

Moisturizing Properly

It is important to ensure that we are conducting the correct method, in moisturizing your hair.  There are several different methods to you can use, such as the LOC, LOCO, LCOC whatever method works best for your hair, do make sure that this is consistently done, pay attention to your ends.  Do make sure that you apply a good leave-in conditioner first along with your oil and cream, it will help to soften your ends.  I like to use a much heavier oil and cream, and apply this to my ends, to make sure they are well moisturized!

I would recommend wearing a hairstyle that will protect or hide your ends from the elements that it will get exposed to, and a style that will require less manipulation.

Baggy Method Ends Only

This method is a great way to help with those that suffers from dry, brittle ends.  Just section your hair, ensure that hair is tangle free before applying your water or leave-in conditioner, then apply the oil to your ends.  Place a plastic bag or a food bag over the ends of the hair, and secure with an elastic band, cover sleep overnight, then remove all bags from your ends and embrace the sheer softness, yes go ahead because your worth it!
